Brompheniramine is a first‑generation antihistamine that works by blocking the effects of histamine, a natural chemical in the body that causes allergy symptoms like runny nose, sneezing, itchy/watery eyes, and itching. Syrup formulations are typically used to relieve allergy or cold‑related upper respiratory symptoms.

How to Take: 

  • Take exactly as directed on the product label or by your healthcare provider.

  • Use the measuring device provided; do not use a household spoon.

  • You may take it with or without food.

Dosage:

  • Adults & children ≥12 years: Usually 2 mg per dose (often 10 mL of 2 mg/5 mL syrup) every 4–6 hours as needed. 

  • Children 6–12 years: Often 1 mg per dose (about 5 mL of 2 mg/5 mL) 3–4 times daily. 

  • Children 2–6 years: Typically ½ teaspoon (about 1 mg/day split into multiple doses), or as prescribed.

  • Children <2 years: Use only if prescribed by a doctor; dosing must be determined by a clinician.

Warnings:

  • If allergic to brompheniramine or any ingredients in the syrup.

  • With certain antidepressants (MAO inhibitors) or within 14 days of stopping them.
