Warfin Tablet 5 mg is a prescription anticoagulant medicine used to reduce the formation of harmful blood clots. It works by interfering with the blood clotting process, helping maintain smooth blood flow and lowering the risk of serious cardiovascular and thromboembolic events.

What is Warfin Tablet  used for?

Warfin is commonly prescribed for the prevention and treatment of conditions caused by abnormal blood clotting, including:

• Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT): Prevents clot formation in deep veins, especially in the legs.
• Pulmonary Embolism (PE): Improves blood flow in the lungs by preventing or treating lung clots.
• Myocardial Infarction Prevention: Reduces the risk of clot-related heart attacks.
• Atrial Fibrillation: Prevents stroke and systemic embolism in patients with irregular heartbeat.

How Warfin Tablet Works

Warfin slows down the body’s clotting mechanism by reducing the activity of vitamin K–dependent clotting factors. The anticoagulant effect usually begins within 36 to 48 hours, with effects lasting up to 2 to 5 days.

Possible Side Effects

Like all anticoagulants, Warfin may cause side effects. Seek immediate medical attention if severe symptoms occur.

Serious Side Effects

• Unusual bleeding or bruising
• Blood in urine or stools
• Severe abdominal pain
• Blurred vision or severe headache
• Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)

Warnings & Precautions

• Not suitable for patients with active bleeding disorders or recent head injuries.

Use During Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Pregnancy: Not recommended unless absolutely necessary in life-threatening situations.

Breastfeeding: Use only if clearly needed under medical supervision, with infant monitoring.

Drug Interactions

Warfin may interact with several medicines, including:

• Aspirin (severe interaction)
• Fluoroquinolone antibiotics
• Ethinyl estradiol
• Proton pump inhibitors

Dosage & Administration

Take Warfin Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Dosage is individualized based on INR test results.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as remembered. Skip it if the next dose is near—do not double the dose.

Overdose

In case of overdose, seek immediate medical attention.

General Instructions

• Can be taken with or without food.
