Relexxii (methylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release tablets)

A central nervous system (CNS) stimulant indicated for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults up to the age of 65 years and pediatric patients 6 years of age and older.

What Are Side Effects of Relexxii?

Relexxii may cause serious side effects including:

• hives,
• difficulty breathing,
• swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
• increased blood pressure,
• cold fingers or toes,
• numbness or pain in fingers or toes,
• skin color changes,
• wounds on the fingers or toes,
• fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeats,
• mood changes,
• behavior changes,
• agitation,
• aggression,
• abnormal thoughts,
• thoughts of self-harm,
• uncontrolled muscle movements,
• twitching,
• shaking,
• sudden outbursts of words or sounds that are hard to control,
• blurred vision,
• fainting,
• seizures,
• chest, jaw or left arm pain,
• shortness of breath,
• unusual sweating,
• weakness on one side of the body,
• trouble speaking,
• sudden vision changes,
• confusion, and
• an erection that is painful or prolonged erection lasting 4 or more hours

Get medical help right away, if you have any of the symptoms listed above.

Side effects of Relexxii include:

• upper abdominal pain upper,
• decreased appetite,
• headache,
• dry mouth,
• nausea,
• insomnia,
• anxiety,
• dizziness,
• weight loss,
• irritability, and
• increased sweating.

Seek medical care or call 911 at once if you have the following serious side effects:

• Serious eye symptoms such as sudden vision loss, blurred vision,tunnel vision,eye painor swelling, or seeing halos around lights;
• Serious heart symptoms such as fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeats; fluttering in your chest; shortness of breath; and sudden dizziness, lightheartedness, or passing out;
• Severe headache, confusion, slurred speech, arm or leg weakness, trouble walking, loss of coordination, feeling unsteady, very stiff muscles, high fever, profuse sweating, or tremors.

Dosage for Relexxii

The recommended starting dosage of Relexxii for children and adolescents new to methylphenidate is 18 mg once daily. Dosage may be increased by 18 mg /day at weekly intervals and should not exceed 54 mg /day in children and 72 mg /day in adolescents.

The recommended starting dose of Relexxii for adult patients new to methylphenidate is 18 or 36 mg /day. Dosage may be increased by 18 mg /day at weekly intervals and should not exceed 72 mg /day for adults.

For patients currently using methylphenidate, dosing of Relexxii is based on current dose regimen and clinical judgment.

Relexxii In Children

Safety and efficacy of Relexxii have not been established in children less than six years old. Long-term effects of methylphenidate in children have not been well established.

What Drugs, Substances, or Supplements Interact with Relexxii?

Relexxii may interact with other medicines such as:

• MAO inhibitors,
• vasopressors,
• coumarin anticoagulants,
• anticonvulsants (e.g., phenobarbital, phenytoin, primidone),
• some antidepressants (tricyclics and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors), and
• risperidone.
• Tell your doctor all medications and supplements you use.

Relexxii During Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant before using Relexxii; it is unknown if it would harm a fetus. It is unknown if Relexxii passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
