Medication Description

Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and chest pain (angina). By relaxing the blood vessels, it allows blood to flow more easily, which helps to lower blood pressure, reduce heart workload, and decrease the risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems.

It is also often prescribed alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents as part of a long-term blood pressure management plan.

How to Use:
Healthcare providers may initiate therapy with 2.5 to 5 mg once daily. And also, dose adjustments depend on individual clinical response and tolerance.
It is generally taken once daily at the same time, with or without food, as advised by your provider.

Important Notes:
Avoid grapefruit or grapefruit juice, as it may increase the amount of amlodipine in the bloodstream
Also, do not stop taking without consulting your healthcare provider, even if you feel well

Side Effects

Side effects may include dizziness, flushing, swelling or fluid retention, and upset stomach.
