Product Information:

Revlimid is a cancer medication that belongs to a class called immunomodulatory drugs (IMiDs). It works by:

• Stimulating the immune system to attack cancer cells

• Preventing new blood vessel formation in tumors

• Directly inhibiting cancer cell growth

Uses:

• Multiple myeloma (a type of blood cancer)

• Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS)

• Certain types of lymphoma

How to Take Revlimid

• Form: Oral capsule.

• Typical dose: Depends on the condition and patient factors; usually once daily for a set number of days in a cycle.

• With or without food: Can be taken either way, but consistently at the same time daily.

• Handling precautions:

  • Capsules should not be opened, broken, or chewed.

  • Wash hands after handling; avoid touching if pregnant.

• Monitoring: Regular blood tests are required to check blood counts, kidney function, and liver function.

Warnings:

1. Pregnancy risk: Extremely high risk of birth defects. Strict birth control programs are required for men and women.

2. Blood clots: Can increase risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism. Sometimes blood thinners are prescribed.

3. Blood disorders: May cause low white blood cells, red blood cells, or platelets.

4. Liver/kidney problems: Dose adjustments may be needed.

5. Infections: Increased risk due to immune suppression.

6. Allergic reactions: Rare but possible.

Side Effects:

• Low white blood cells (neutropenia)

• Low platelets (thrombocytopenia)

• Fatigue

• Diarrhea or constipation

• Rash

• Fever

• Dizziness

Serious but rare:

• Blood clots

• Severe infections
