Product Information:

Veklury is indicated to treat COVID-19 in adults and pediatric patients from birth to less than 18 years of age and weighing at least 3.3 pounds (1.5 kilograms) when hospitalized or not hospitalized but with mild to moderate COVID-19 and at high risk of progression to severe COVID-19, including death.

Remdesivir is an analog of a nucleotide and acts on SARS-CoV-2 viral RNA polymerase to inhibit replication of SARS-CoV-2, which is a causative agent in COVID

Veklury can be administered in two

Veklury is administered by infusion into a vein. A healthcare provider will give you this injection.

Blood tests will be conducted by your physician to check if you have any other medical conditions which will not allow you to take Veklury safely.

Veklury infusion will take 30 to 120 minutes, and this infusion will be given slowly.

If you are in a hospital, you will need an infusion every day for a maximum of 10 days.

In case you are not in a hospital, you will have an infusion daily for 3 days.

Blood tests will need to be performed on you frequently in order to check your liver function.
A healthcare provider you trust must be in charge of you during treatment with Veklury for a case of COVID-19.

Dosing information:

Usual Adult Dosage of Veklury for COVID-19:

Maintenance Dose (from Day 2): Veklury 100 mg IV Daily

Duration of Therapy:
-Hospitalized patients requiring invasive mechanical ventilation and/or Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO): 10 days total
-Hospitalized patients not requiring invasive mechanical ventilation/ECMO: 5 days; can be extended up to an additional 5 days if no signs of clinical improvement
-Non-hospitalized patients:
Use: For the treatment of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in patients with positive results of direct severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) viral testing in patients who are:
-Hospitalized,

-Not hospitalized, have mild to moderate symptoms of COVID-19, and are at high risk of progression to severe symptoms of COVID-19, including hospitalization or death

Warnings:

Veklury is used in people with COVID-19 infection only. A patient using this medication should under all circumstances be in the care of a healthcare provider.

Veklury side effects:

Get emergency medical help if you have symptoms of an allergic reaction to Veklury: hives, trouble breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Some side effects may occur during or after the injection. Let your caregiver know right away if you notice any of these side effects:

headache, especially pounding in your neck or ears;

fast, slow, or pounding heartbeats;

wheezing, difficulty breathing swelling in your face; fever, chills, or shivering itching, sweating; or a light-headed feeling, as if you might faint;
