Guaifenesin Benadryl Exp Syrup

Product Information:

A typical Guaifenesin + Benadryl (Diphenhydramine) syrup contains:

• Guaifenesin – an expectorant that thins and loosens mucus in the airways, making coughs more productive and helping clear chest congestion. 

• Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) – a first‑generation antihistamine with antitussive (cough‑suppressing) and sedating effects.

Used for:
• Symptomatic relief of cough (productive or non‑productive)
• Help with chest congestion due to colds, flu, or allergies
Not intended to cure the underlying illness.

Dosage:

• Adults & children ≥12 years: Often about 2 teaspoonfuls (≈10 mL) every 4–6 hours as needed. Do not exceed the maximum daily dose printed on the label or advised by your doctor. 

• Children 6–12 years: Lower doses (commonly 5–10 mL every 4 hours, but check label). 

• Children <6 years: Not generally recommended without medical advice.

Warnings:

• Children under recommended age (often <6–12 yrs depending on product). 

• Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a clinician before using. 

• People with glaucoma, prostate problems, urinary retention, or severe asthma/bronchitis may be at higher risk from diphenhydramine effects.

• Allergy to guaifenesin, diphenhydramine, or other ingredients.
