Luvox 100 mg (Fluvoxamine)

Product Information:

Luvox (Fluvoxamine) 100 mg is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant primarily prescribed for obsessive‑compulsive disorder (OCD) in adults and children. It may also be used off‑label for other anxiety or mood disorders. It works by increasing serotonin levels in the brain, helping to improve mood, reduce compulsions and anxiety.

How to Take

• Take exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider.

• Usually taken once daily, often at bedtime. 

• You can take it with or without food. 

• Swallow tablets whole; do not crush, chew, or break.

• It may take several weeks to feel the full benefit.

Dosage:

• Adults (usual for OCD): Start at 100 mg once daily at bedtime, then may be increased gradually by your doctor in 50 mg increments up to 300 mg/day as needed.

• Higher doses (>150 mg): May be given in divided doses. 

• Children/Adolescents: Only under strict medical supervision; initial doses typically lower and adjusted based on response.

• Always follow your physician’s direction; the above are general ranges.

Warnings:

• Suicidal thoughts: Antidepressants may increase risk in people under 25; monitor for mood changes. 

• Do not stop suddenly: Can cause withdrawal symptoms (dizziness, nausea, irritability). 

• Drug interactions: Avoid MAO inhibitors, certain antipsychotics (pimozide, thioridazine), linezolid, methylene blue. 

• Avoid alcohol: Can worsen side effects like drowsiness or dizziness. 

• Bleeding risk: May increase bleeding risk, especially with NSAIDs/anticoagulants. 

• Impaired alertness: May cause dizziness or sleepiness—avoid driving until you know how it affects you. 

• Inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney, heart issues, seizures, bipolar disorder, low sodium, or pregnancy/breastfeeding

Side Effects:

Mild to moderate side effects may occur, including: 

• Nausea, upset stomach, diarrhea

• Drowsiness, dizziness, headache

• Insomnia or sleep disturbances

• Dry mouth, sweating changes

• Sexual side effects (low libido, delayed orgasm)

• Anxiety, trembling
