Cheratussin AC (Codeine+Guaifenesin) Syrup

Product Information:

Cheratussin AC syrup is used for short-term relief of cough associated with chest congestion.
It contains:

• Codeine – an opioid cough suppressant that reduces the cough reflex in the brain

• Guaifenesin – an expectorant that helps loosen and thin mucus in the airways

How to Take:

• Take only as prescribed by your doctor.

• Measure doses carefully using a dosing cup or oral syringe.

• May be taken with or without food (take with food if stomach upset occurs).

• Drink plenty of fluids to help guaifenesin work better.

• Do not combine with alcohol or other medicines that cause drowsiness unless approved by a doctor.

Dosage:

• Adults: Typically taken every 4–6 hours as needed for cough, for a short duration only.

• Children & teens: Not recommended, especially under 18, due to serious risk of breathing problems from codeine.

Warnings:

• Opioid risk: Codeine can cause slow or difficult breathing, dependence, and misuse.

• Not for children/teens: Increased risk of life-threatening breathing problems.

• Avoid use if you have severe asthma, breathing disorders, or a history of opioid misuse unless a doctor decides otherwise.

• Dangerous interactions can occur with alcohol, sleep medicines, sedatives, or other opioids.

• Pregnancy & breastfeeding: Codeine can harm infants—discuss risks with a healthcare provider.
