Product Information:

Eylea is an injection medication used to treat eye diseases caused by abnormal blood vessel growth or leakage. It works by blocking VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor), which reduces fluid leakage and prevents abnormal blood vessel growth in the eye.

Uses:

• Wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD)

• Diabetic macular edema (DME)

• Diabetic retinopathy (DR)

• Macular edema following retinal vein occlusion (RVO)

How to Take Eylea:

• Form: Eye injection (intravitreal).

• Administration: Given directly into the eye by an ophthalmologist in a clinic setting.

• Dosing:

  • Typically every 4 weeks for the first 3 months, then every 8 weeks, depending on the condition and response.

• Monitoring: Regular eye exams are needed to track vision changes and eye pressure.

Important: Do not try to self-administer; requires a trained professional.

Warnings:

1. Eye infections: Risk of endophthalmitis (serious infection inside the eye).

2. Increased eye pressure: Can temporarily raise intraocular pressure.

3. Eye complications: Retinal detachment, hemorrhage, or inflammation may occur.

4. Pregnancy/Breastfeeding: Use only if clearly needed; discuss risks with your doctor.

5. Allergic reactions: Rare, but can occur.

Side Effects:

• Eye pain or irritation

• Redness in the eye or eyelid

• Increased eye pressure

• Blurred vision or floaters

• Mild swelling around the eye

Serious but rare:

• Eye infection (endophthalmitis)

• Retinal detachment

• Severe bleeding inside the eye
