Imbruvica

Product Informaions:

• Imbruvica (ibrutinib) is a prescription oral medication used to treat certain blood cancers, including:

  • Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL)

  • Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL)

  • Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia (WM)

• It works by blocking a protein called Bruton’s tyrosine kinase (BTK), which slows the growth of cancer cells.

How to Take Imbruvica

• Form: Oral capsules

• Typical dosing: Once daily, as prescribed by your doctor (dose depends on the condition)

• With or without food: Can be taken with or without a meal

• Swallowing: Swallow capsules whole; do not crush, chew, or open them

• Missed dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If it’s almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one—do not double dose.

Imbruvica Side Effects:

• Diarrhea

• Fatigue or weakness

• Muscle or joint pain

• Nausea and vomiting

• Bruising or minor bleeding

• Rash

• Swelling of hands, feet, or ankles

Warnings

1. 1. Bleeding Risk

      • Imbruvica can increase the chance of serious bleeding, including in the brain or stomach.

      • Avoid activities that may cause injury, and report unusual bruising or bleeding immediately.

   2. Infections

      • Can lower immune defenses, leading to bacterial, viral, or fungal infections.

      • Watch for fever, chills, cough, or other signs of infection.

   3. Heart Problems

      • Risk of atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat) and other heart issues.

      • Seek medical attention for palpitations, shortness of breath, or chest pain.

   4. High Blood Pressure

      • Blood pressure may rise during treatment; monitoring is important.

   5. Secondary Cancers

      • Rarely, patients may develop other cancers while on Imbruvica.

   6. Tumor Lysis Syndrome (TLS)

      • Rapid breakdown of cancer cells can cause serious metabolic problems, especially at the start of treatment.
