Product Information:

Librium 10 mg is a benzodiazepine medicine whose active ingredient is chlordiazepoxide. It’s prescribed to treat anxiety disorders, help manage alcohol withdrawal symptoms, and relieve pre-surgery anxiety or related conditions by producing a calming effect on the brain and nerves.

How to Take:

Form: Oral capsule/tablet.
Take: As your doctor prescribes — usually with a glass of water.
With food: You can take it with or without food, but try to be consistent.
Do not chew or crush the tablet; swallow it whole.

Dosage:

Dosage depends on the condition being treated, your age, and medical response. Only your doctor should determine the exact dose. Typical patterns include: 

Adults (anxiety):

• Often 5–10 mg taken 3–4 times a day.

• For more severe symptoms, doses may be up to 20–25 mg 3–4 times daily.

Alcohol withdrawal / other uses:

• Higher dosing may be used in short term for acute withdrawal under strict medical supervision; your doctor will guide this. 

Elderly / debilitated patients:

• Typically started on a lower dose due to increased sensitivity.

Warnings:

Before taking Librium, inform your doctor if you have:

• Allergy to benzodiazepines or ingredients in the medication.

• Respiratory disorders, liver or kidney problems, or myasthenia gravis.

• History of substance use disorder — benzodiazepines can cause dependence.
