Trajenta 5 mg (Linagliptin)

Product Information:

Tradjenta is a prescription medicine used to help control blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. It belongs to a class of medicines called DPP-4 inhibitors.

How to take it:

• Take by mouth, with or without food

• Take it once daily, at the same time each day if possible

• Swallow the tablet whole with water

• Continue your recommended diet and exercise plan

If you miss a dose:

• Take it as soon as you remember

• If it’s close to your next dose, skip the missed one

• Do not double the dose

Dosage:

• Usual adult dose:
  5 mg once daily

Children and teens:

• Safety and effectiveness in people under 18 years old have not been established

• Use in minors should only be determined by a specialist

Warnings:

Tell a healthcare provider before using Tradjenta if you have or have had:

• Pancreatitis

• Kidney or liver problems

• Heart failure

• Gallstones

• High triglycerides

• A history of serious allergic reactions to diabetes medicines

Side effects:

Common side effects

• Runny or stuffy nose

• Sore throat

• Cough

• Diarrhea

Less common but serious side effects

• Pancreatitis

• Severe joint pain

• Serious allergic reactions

• Skin blistering

• Low blood sugar (especially when combined with other diabetes medicines)
