Trikafta

Product Information:

• Trikafta is a medication used to treat cystic fibrosis (CF) in people who have certain mutations in the CFTR gene.

• It is a combination of three medicines:

  1. Elexacaftor

  2. Tezacaftor

  3. Ivacaftor

• These work together to help the defective protein in CF work better, improving lung function and reducing complications from CF.

How Trikafta Is Usually Taken:

• Form: Tablets

• Typical dosing: Usually, it is taken twice daily.

• With food: Take it with a meal to improve absorption.

• Consistency: Take it at the same times every day.

• Missed dose: If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it’s almost time for the next dose—then skip the missed one. Do not double dose.

(Child: Age 2 to less than 6 years. Weight: 31 pounds or more. Weight in kg: 14 kilograms or
Morning Dose: Give one white & orange packet in the morning.
Holds drugs such as elexacaftor, tezacaftor
Dinner Dose: One white & pink packet in the evening.

Trikafta tablets dosing information for patients 6 years to less than 12 years of age and weighing less than 66 pounds [30 kilograms]:

Morning Dose: To be taken in the morning, 2 light orange tablets. The light orange tablet is labeled with ‘T50’, and it contains the drugs elexacaftor, tezacaftor, & ivacaftor in each tablet.

Evening Dose: One light blue tablet is to be taken in the evening. The light blue tablet is labeled with ‘V 75’ and holds a pharmacologically active substance called ivacaftor.

Trikafta side effects:

The most common side effects of Trikafta are:

headache flu with symptoms of fever, chills,

or body aches common colds

with such symptoms as nasal congestion,

facial pain,

sneezing,

and sore throat diarrhea

Stomach pain rash unusual lab results, such as elevated blood bilirubin, creatine phosphokinase, and liver enzyme levels.
